Ocrevus Treatment Patient Guide & Answers

Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) is an FDA-approved infusion therapy for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), including relapsing forms (RMS) and primary progressive MS (PPMS). It targets overactive B cells in the immune system that damage nerves, helping to slow disease progression and reduce relapses.

Ocrevus may be recommended for patients who:

  • Have relapsing or progressive MS
  • Experience frequent relapses or new MRI lesions
  • Have not responded well to other MS medications

Eligibility is determined after reviewing your medical history with your neurologist.

Ocrevus is delivered as an intravenous infusion at our Palm Beach center under the supervision of trained infusion nurses.
  • Initial dose: Two infusions given two weeks apart
  • Maintenance doses: One infusion every six months

Each session typically lasts 2.5 to 3.5 hours, including observation time.

You will receive premedications to reduce potential reactions. Infusions are administered slowly while you relax in a recliner. After the infusion, you remain under observation for safety.
Common side effects may include mild infusion reactions, flu-like symptoms, or fatigue. Rarely, allergic reactions can occur. Our staff monitors you closely throughout treatment.
