Marc F. Matarazzo, MD is a Board Certified and Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in sports medicine and related injuries. He is an expert in minimally invasive procedures and complex reconstructions, as well as joint replacements, of the shoulder and knee. He is certified in the MAKO robotic-assisted knee replacement system and has more than 23 years of clinical and surgical experience. He has a special interest in combining regenerative medicine technology with cutting edge orthopedic surgical and non-surgical care.
Dr. Matarazzo earned his medical degree from The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University, now Drexel University in Philadelphia. He then completed a sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City where he served as an Assistant Team Physician to the New York Jets, the New York Islanders, and the Hofstra University and Hunter College Athletic Departments.
Dr Matarazzo is the founder and principal of Elite Sports Medicine serving Palm Beach, Martin, and St Lucie counties of Florida. He has served South Florida since 2002. He held an academic appointment as the Medical Director of the Athletic Training Program at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he served as their head team physician for over 10 years. Between 2007 and 2020 he served as head team physician for Palm Beach State College and several Palm Beach County high schools. In 2020 he was offered the
opportunity to lead the inception of the Sports Medicine Department at Christus Trinity Clinic in Longview, Texas. There, he lead a team of certified Athletic Trainers and was head team physician for the athletic departments of East Texas Baptist University and LeTourneau University, as well as over 10 local high schools. He spent countless hours covering Friday night and Saturday football games, supervising Saturday morning injury clinics, and making weekly training room visits.
Dr Matarazzo is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and active member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has presented both nationally and internationally on a variety of sports medicine topics since 1999.
